Maa Kalaratri Aarti

(Devanagari Sacred Verses)
Text size

English Meaning & Significance

Hail Kalaratri, Mahakali, who saves us from the jaws of death (Kala). Her name is destroyer of the wicked, and Mahachandi is her incarnation. Her expanse covers earth and sky. She holds the sword and skull-bowl and destroys demonic afflictions. Kolkata is her seat, yet she is seen everywhere, and all gods, men and women sing her praise. As Raktadanta and Annapurna, when she shows grace no sorrow remains: no worry, illness, grief or heavy crisis. No pain comes to the one Mahakali protects. Devotee, you too say with love: victory to you, Mother Kalaratri!
